NICK WU – WALLPAPER / DUN HUANG PATTERNS

WUHAO invites each season new designers with fresh ideas to replay with traditional Chinese backgrounds. In Spring 2011, WUHAO commissioned Nick Wu to work on the Dunhuang’s patterns to create a wallpaper for the spring installation.

The project is displayed at Mao’er Hutong 35(WUHAO’s showroom at that time), and then was showcased at Zhujia Hutong during Beijing Design Week 2011. It won “The Best Wall Covering Design” in 2011, awarded by ELLE DECO INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS CHINA.

And then patterns and mashup designs printed in different colors on different fabrics, papers and materials from traditional to the most innovative is now used to set up a line of packaging and products (stationery, bags, table cloth, etc).

Nick Wu earned a degree in Visual Communication at Limkok-wing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia. Nick has been the in-house designer and the mind behind the visual ideas at WUHAO until October 2014.
